Where’s Wally was one of the original hipsters, in my opinion. Black horn-rimmed glasses, skinny jeans and a bobble hat, blending seamlessly into crowds in all countries and eras. In his spare time, he was probably spinning vinyl and micro-brewing his own beer. On a serious note, the bespectacled drifter was one of the reasons I got so deeply into books as a child, and The Literacy Trust’s annual Where’s Wally Fun Run aims to do the same for children all over the UK. On March 22nd, head down to Victoria Park and jog, run, or just plain walk your way through 5 or 10km, with proceeds going towards the National Literacy Trust’s work in the poorest communities.
