There’s something in the air! Is it Spring? Or just London’s fatally high level of pollution? Who knows! Stay safe and stay inside, by going to a party!
Disarming glimpses of sunlight and precocious daffodils aside, there’s definitely something going on. Though we’re already two weeks deep into March, the month’s remaining club listings read like a small town venue’s five-year plan. So much to do! A terrifying, But maybe that’s just the toxic smog talking.
This Friday, we’d struggle to pick a favourite from the big vibes triumvirate of Snts and Polar Inertia at Corsica Studios, the Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra Live at Bussey Building, and Denis Sulta all night long at Phonox: three very different sounds (arctic techno, Afrobeat and house, respectively); one damn good night.
And Saturday is even worse; we’d have to clone ourselves at least seven times to make it to all the good stuff (leaving aside the angry clone we’d dump with organising this logistical shitshow). How to choose between Chris Liebing, Kiasmos and Recondite at Printworks, trance legend Sacha and techno queen Lousiahhh at fabric, Mr Scruff all night long at Corsica Studios, French noughties icon Oxia at the Steelyard, Berlin Berlin showcase at EGG, Mind Against and Somne at Village Underground and underground newcomer Beaming at Stoke Newington basement Bar A Bar.
If you haven’t collapsed in a deflated concertina of lethargy after just reading that list, then the following weekend brings even more opportunities to exhaust every last living atom of your body by throwing it around in a dark room for eight hours. On Friday, Rødhad curates a line-up of punishing techno at fabric, while at Village Underground, Actress, Randomer and Mica Levi bring dystopian techno and general electronic weirdness. Alternatively, for warm, richly textured house, head to H.O.S.H and Love Over Entropy at The Steeyard. Come Saturday, anyone who’s still alive should head to Body Hammer at All Souls for a right proper rave. OK, we give up now. Can we go home?
