Kebabs. Synonymous with staggering home drunk. Bit of an ugly, sloppy, second-rate food to the those not in the know. Bababoom is wiping the slate clean for kebabs and showcasing them for what they truly are, the perfect package of meaty (or veggie), spicy, pickly goodness. Their meats are a far cry from your usual rotating slab of grey matter, you’ll find slow roasted mutton shoulder and saffron orange chicken amongst the gems of the menu. The absolute jewel in the crown though, is the whole coal-fired cauliflower that came on a bed of sweet potato houmous, in a perfectly charred flatbread and flecked with crispy onions and pearls of pomegranate. The salted date caramel sundae with yoghurt ice cream is unmissable, as is their own brew Persian lager ‘Baba’s’. People may have thought kebab’s to be ugly but Bababoom proves it’s what’s on the inside that counts. And what’s on the outside. And what’s sandwiched between the two.
