Those folks at Beanuts will make a plantbased milk out of pretty much anything. With nuts, pulses and legumes on the 16-strong list, there’s never been more choice for your morning flat white.
The food is healthy, hearty and of course, vegan. The warming lentil stew was nicely spiced, and the shepherds pie was creamy and comforting. A pleasant surprise was the ‘go nuts toasts’, spread with no-egg no-mayo, using black salt to perfectly replicate eggyness and a tzaziki that tasted exactly like its dairy-based cousin.
Sweet treat? They got you covered with vegan versions of the classics – like a berry cheesecake with lotus biscuit crunchiness and a creamy tangy topping. And while this café is entirely cruelty-free, don’t be fooled that it’s all sweet and innocent – the cocktails here pack a serious punch. The cashew-milk based White Russian will have you swaying. Beanuts is a great addition the the already veg-friendly Brick Lane, and they show that food, brews and booze can all be enjoyed without dairy.
