There are a million options for places to get your hair done in London. From the highest end of posh to the cheapest and often more cheerful, our fine city serves up something for everyone’s barnet and budget. The challenge London presents, as usual, is landing that Goldilocks moment when you find the one that’s “just right”. We had that moment last week upon discovering the fine services of Butchers Salon in Hackney Road. Founded by Susannah and Katie, two besties who after years of working in other people’s salons, decided to start up their own. There is an eco focus and a casual vibe that sets you at once at ease. I was #blessed with the opportunity to have Katie (the colourist of the two) give my locks a little “balayage” treatment (basically blonde highlights that have a natural, sun-kissed look). The process took some time, which gave me the chance to sample Aveda’s chakra based essential oils and read up on the UK’s most eligible maidens (thank you Tatler). The shop is known for its bleaching and the whole team double as session stylists. They definitely know what’s up. Price wise it’s enough to give you confidence in the quality, but not so much that it should feel like an annual treat. Highly recommended – the proof is in the pix.
