Fresh; zingy; lively; a journey through the marketplace. Levantine cuisine is all of the above. South Kensington’s Ceru taught us that with its servings of blended eggplant and tahini and sweet, sweet pomegranate molasses. Now its younger sister site is spreading the word ‘central’ way. On any given night, vibrant sharing plates steeped in eastern Mediterranean flavours, weave between tables at Soho’s Ceru. A veritable dance through the herbs, spices, pomegranates and seeds of the Levant (think Turkey, Syria, Cyprus, Israel, Lebanon and Jordan), the dishes are as sunny as the ambiance. Meanwhile the (affordable) wine pairings add a layer of chic to this casual Mediterranean holiday. Oh wait – we’re not on holiday.. Note: special diet folks, the menu is almost-wholly gluten and dairy-free. Huzzah!
