The Wes Anderson-esque Bloomsbury Hotel’s Coral Room is the stuff of interior design dreams – while Sketch’s pale pink walls can seem too cool, cold even, The Coral Room’s hues are an eccentric accompaniment to almost any mood. Prints by illustrator Luke Edward Hall adorn the walls and there are a few palms, allowing the Miami art deco meets 1920s parlour to shine through. The cocktail list, focusing on highballs and spritz-style concoctions with English sparkling wine – is seriously impressive. The small plates blend luxe comfort food with a sophisticated twist – Campbells & Co smoked salmon with a hunk of Guinness brown bread and creme fraiche is a must, but oysters and shortrib sliders should more than satisfy those post-cocktail hunger pangs. Far more than just a hotel drinking hole, The Coral Room is a brilliant standalone bar you will want to return to again and again.
