Flatteringly lit and warehouse-chic with its distressed brickwork interior, Foley’s is a hotspot in the heart of Fitzrovia dishing up an array of variously-sized sharing plates. With new chef – Sakorn Somboon – at the helm, focus has moved away from the Middle East and India towards Asia. The aim? To merge classic flavours from that part of the globe with European ones. Begin with a cocktail and share a few plates from the ‘Bits and Bobs’ section of the menu: we can recommend the Cusco Sour, a fruity blend of pisco and passion fruit, and the gyoza – delicate parcels filled with wagyu and truffle. Super hungry? Throw in the aubergine with honey miso too. Other dishes that dazzle include tender pieces of chicken thigh with chunks of pineapple and perfumed lychee in a pool of thick, rich green curry sauce and stir-fried okra coated in fiery sambal paste. Save room for dessert: black rice served with velvety coconut sorbet and a dinky pot of apple wine is an unusual and worthy end to the meal.
