There are some shops you like, some shops you love and some shops that you’d move house for. It’s no coincidence that Gallo Nero II Italian deli is now at the end of my road. This place is the real deal – no decorative weighing scales or jars of pretty stuff that nobody ever buys. Just loads of ham, the best fennel sausages I’ve ever tasted and friendly Italian owners to give you that warm and fuzzy hug of authenticity. Pop in on a Saturday morning (they’re closed on Sundays for extra authenticity) and you’ll find home-sick Italians from all over London who’ve come to stock up on their beloved motherland treats. The homemade tiramisu is tasty; the homemade pesto is better than anything you’ll ever attempt to do yourself; and the imported burrata is the crack-cocaine of semi-cured cheeses. / Clare Considine
