The Waney brothers have gone and done it again. The two behind Zuma, Roka, and Le Petite Maison have a new brainchild, Meraki – and this time, it’s a modern Greek joint in Fitzrovia. Showcasing Aegean classics with a London flare, we loved the beef fillet kebab with avocado tsatsiki, and Santorini cherry tomato salad with goats cheese and capers leaves. A choice of cold mezze might leave you feeling overwhelmed (in a good way) with its robust hummus, taramosalata, zesty spinach and feta dip with homemade pita crackers. Next on the list, tackle the hot mezze and its octopus BBQ with grilled onions, capers and a wild oregano vinaigrette, and the “pastitsio” with tender oxtail ragu, graviera cheese and shredded truffle – not quite how giagia used to make it but she’d want the recipe. It’s great to see a grand selection of Greek wines, which seem underrepresented in the London scene. Great place for sharing dishes; we definitely recommend booking on the weekend.
