Owned by Thames Water, who has long used a variety of tactics to keep locals from accessing the panoramic view of South London, Nunhead Reservoir is a covered hill-top reservoir, sitting on a hill right next to the cemetery with 15 acres of wide-open green space – and an insane view.
For 25 years, the space has been used “unofficially” for picnics and general hang outs, and although the current fence, according to Thames Water enacted for security reasons, is somewhat less malleable than previous structures, there is still a way to access the site. Local resident Rosanna Thompson has started a Facebook page and a petition to try to get the site re-opened. Find out more and get involved here.
