A wise man once said: ‘Cars promise freedom but bikes keep that promise”. From commuters across the capital to pedallers off-piste, London is testament to the saying. A city after his own heart, Bristolian ‘bikie’ Matt Mears has laid down and locked up his independent London store on Brick Lane. The ‘grassroots’ work(shop) is the wheel deal with products, servicing and repairs for simple single speeds to top-end racers. Keep an eye out for service sessions, film nights and beers – all sans the Shoreditch pretense. After firmly establishing his first bike store in Bristol, it wasn’t long before Matt set his sights East. The new spacious shop makes modern cycles designed with a classic aesthetic, covering city, country, touring and road riding. Great for infinite flights of stairs and pothole punctured roads, they’re lightweight, durable and sexy to look at. Heard the chat about cycling? Mate, grab a saddle..
